September 19-22 Weekend Recap

Our weekend recap!

1. I rented the Nikon 35mm 1.4 G lens for this past weekends wedding. I've used several 35mm lens including the Nikon 35mm 1.8DX, Nikon 35mm 2.0 and the Sigma 35mm 1.4. But this one was so awesome. I see why it has a $1700 price tag! It's fast, sharp, and has great coloring. It is on my long wish-list of photography gear! One day, an exciting day!

2. In front of our church there is the large, historic tree. I've always been fond of it. Unfortunately, the tree has died and is a safety issue. See those large limbs on the ground? They almost fell on someone's head! So the tree will be coming down in a few weeks, and I wanted to document it while I had the 35.

3. I am finally a smart phone owner! Woot!! I've been using an old slider phone, you know the one with the keyboard for texting, yeah I'm that awesome. But now with the release of the 6, we were able to get a good deal on the 5s and I'm super excited to blow up

4. As a wedding photographer and active church member, weekends are usually packed full of activities, which means I don't really have a dedicated day to myself. After having a busy August and September, I've decided that I'm going to start taking a day off. I need a day to do housework, meal plan, run errands, and just simply rest. I'll blog more about that at a later date, but yesterday was my first "off" day. It was actually really enjoyable! I drove to Norfolk to drop off my camera to be cleaned and then decided on a whim to go to the mall to look for clearanced summer clothes. And oh boy, did I come out good! I found some adorable skirts and tops all marked down at my favorite store Old Navy. Something about their clothes just fits my body type, so it makes shopping easy and less stressful. I'm so excited to wear all these new pretty things! While out yesterday I also grabbed some Chick-fil-a and got a haircut. It was seriously just what I needed and I think this plan is going to work out really well.

And now, for the prettiest part of the post, here's a sneak peek of Samson & Carly's beautiful rustic purple and red wedding! More coming soon!
