Douglass & Blair: Hornsby House Inn Rainy Wedding

Hurricane Hermine kind of came out of no where. The forecast for Yorktown had read sunny all week. Blair and I chatted on the phone discussing final details and everything looked great! But then just 3 days before the wedding, Hermine decided to crash the wedding.

It was rainy and windy. You could see the bands of clouds swirling off the coast. If it wasn't for it being a wedding day, it would have been cool to watch! But despite the forecast and their change of plans, Doug and Blair were in high spirits. They knew that no matter the weather, it was going to be the fun, relaxed day that they had planned and waited for.

The Hornsby House Inn was the perfect spot for their intimate wedding. Their ceremony in front of the fireplace surrounded in close quarters by their family and friends. It was such a unique atmosphere and so incredibly neat to witness.

Brunch was served in the dining room and guests ventured through the historic home viewing old photos, antique furniture, and mingling with each other. It was the perfect indoor venue for the dreary day.

Later in the afternoon, the rain let up a bit to allow people to eat and mingle outside. Doug and Blair were total troopers and went out with me in the rain for some portraits. And while I loved the portraits in the sunroom, I also love the ones under the crape myrtles.

This wedding was so different and I loved every minute of it! Doug and Blair are definitely my kind of people and I consider it such an honor to capture their wedding! Enjoy lots of highlights from their day!
